Thursdays with O. Mary

Thursday is my favorite day. I reserve Thursday's for my own personal bridal shape up day.

Before work, I go to pilates to work on my core strength. After my pilates class, I get my weekly microdermabrasion treatment with Emily, my face is shaping up nicely with my Obagi skincare system and series of microdermabrasions and chemical peels.

After I work on myself, it's time to start injectable therapies on the day's clients. I'm lucky to meet a wonderful group of interesting clients every day.

The TRUTH About Tanning!

Tanning Causes Skin Cancer!

Indoor tanning, outdoor tanning, ALL tanning is linked directly to an increased risk of developing skin cancer. Ultraviolet (UV) rays, whether they are from a tanning bed or the sun, are dangerous. All UV rays damage skin cells causing brown spots, wrinkles, collagen loss, and an increased risk of developing skin cancer. Recent studies have found that indoor tanners are up to 74% more likely to develop melanoma than those who do not use indoor tanning beds. Melanoma is the most deadly form of skin cancer, usually affecting people later in life however, it's prevalence is growing among 20-30 year olds due to excessive tanning habits. Some states are imposing tanning taxes and tanning laws to limit indoor tanning children under 18, Britain has banned indoor tanning all together for children under 18. These measures are being taken to discourage indoor tanning and raise awareness to it's true danger.

The good news is, damage from UV rays is preventable by using a broad spectrum sunblock!

Right on Track!

As an observer of Mary's Mother of the Bride Bootcamp, I think it's safe to say that Mary's structured skincare bootcamp is really starting to pay off. On her fifth week using the Obagi Nuderm system, Mary is really starting to see a reduction in her fine lines and wrinkles, her tone is evening out and everything seems to be tightening up nicely. Combining microdermabrasion treatments as well as chemical peels along with her Obagi system is definitely amplifying the results of the Obagi Nuderm system. Mary is right on track to be photograph-ready on the big day!

Beginning her own bridal bootcamp is Mary's daughter who just started her first series of microdermabrasion treatments in preparation for her August wedding. Although her skin is in great shape, she is looking for that flawless glow that every bride should have. By starting her treatments a few months in advance, she's giving her skin plenty of time to get in shape!

Mother of the Bride

As a first time Mother of the Bride, it's my day too! The big day is August 19th so I am kicking up my own bridal bootcamp NOW! We haven't found the dress yet, but I have found time to start my series of microdermabrasions and pilates classes in preparation. Trying to stay relaxed from here on out will be easier said than done but my weekly facial treatments are definitely helping!

At least I know I'm going to look good on my daughter's big day!

Stay tuned...
